PANJIM: Goa Velha SC pipped Sai Avtar, Anjuna, 1-0 to march ahead in the anticipated Calangute Association Cup 2025 inter-village football tournament played at the Poriat ground, Calangute, on Monday.
Lokesh Talwar netted the only goal of the match in the 51st minute
The match saw its share of on-field intensity. Supurva Kundaikar of Goa Velha SC was sent off after receiving two yellow cards, while Adur Mohammad of Sai Avtar SC was also cautioned.
For his match-winning performance, Lokesh was deservedly awarded the man-of-the-match.
Earlier, the football tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Joseph Sequeira, sarpanch of VP Calangute. Joining him at the ceremony were the president, general secretary, treasurer and executive members of the Calangute Association.
