Goa’s Angela to officiate at Taekwondo C’ships in Australia

MARGAO: Goa’s Grandmaster Angela De Abreu Naik has been appointed International Referee for the G2 Australia Open and G3 WT President Cup, two of taekwondo’s most prestigious events, which began at Gold Coast on Wednesday.

An International Referee since 2009, Angela has officiated at numerous World and Asian Championships under World Taekwondo and was part of the referee selection process for the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. She recently served at the 10th Asian Ju-jitsu Championship in Amman, Jordan, and the 2nd SETU Hapkido Championship in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Angela is the first Indian woman grandmaster to hold an 8th Dan Black Belt from Kukkiwon and the first International Referee Class 1 (Kyorugi & Poomsae) from India. Her achievements also include a 7th Dan Black Belt in Hapkido from Korea.
