RAIA: Fr Angel YSC, Paroda, deliver a master class sweeping aside Sao Jose de Areal 4-0 in the semi-final to move into the final of 34th Super Soccer football tournament played at Benaulim ground, on Thursday.
A clash defined by pace, precision and Godwin Fernandes’ hat-trick, Fr Angel YSC struck the first blood in the 7th minute, unsettling Sao Jose de Areal, who rallied with attacking surges but found Godwin in imperious form between the posts.
With halftime offering no respite, Fr Angel YSC returned with renewed ideas and Omkar Gaokar and Joy Fernandes weaving dazzling moves that penetrate through the Sao Jose de Areal defence, weakened by the absence of star stopper Bersal Viegas.
Godwin sealed the tie with strikes in the 45th and 49th minute, before Livan Clemente calmly slotted home from the spot to make it 4-0.
Earlier in quarter-final, Fr Agnel YSC prevailed over Parish Youth Nuvem 2-0 to book semi-final berth.
The breakthrough came swiftly when Valroy Carvalho pounced on a defensive lapse to head home in the 10th minute, giving Fr Agnel YSC the perfect start.
The second half offered no respite as Joy Fernandes and Godwin controlled the midfield, snuffing out any hint of a PY Nuvem comeback.
Prince Costa doubled the advantage in the 48th minute, effectively sealing the contest. Fr Agnel YSC’s backline marshalled by Livan Clemente and Ashwan Fernandes, ensured a clean sheet.
