Guardian Angel SC Triumphs 5-4 in Tie-Breaker to Reach Semi-Finals of 17th London Trophy

RAIA: Guardian Angel Sports Club scored a 5-4 win over hosts Betalbatim Sporting Club vie tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of 17th London Trophy inter-village football tournament 2025 organised by Goa Velha Sports Club at its ground, Goa Velha, on Monday.

Godwin Fernandes put Guardian Angel SC ahead when his effort landed into the Betalbatim SC net beating Joyrin Braganza in the goal in the 15th minute. Guardian Angel SC led by a goal at the break.

Betalbatim Sporting Club came all out in the second half and managed to score the equaliser through Gladson Braganza whose strike beat the Guardian Angel SC goalkeeper in the 39th minute to make it, 1-1.

Godwin Fernandes, Visiton Fernandes of Guardian Angel SC and Didymus Antao, Mohamad Sahil of Betalbatim Sporting Club were cautioned by Referee Rohidas Bhomkar.

At the end of regulation time, both the teams were held to a 1-1 draw.

In the ensuing tie-breaker, Guardian Angel SC converted through Fedrick Fernandes, Norman Dias, Cyril Dias and Milroy Clement. Betalbatim Sporting Club converted only through Alaric D’Cunha, Gladson Braganza and Alison Rogtao.

The Guardian Angel Sports Club will meet the winners of Chandor Club and Varca Sports Club on April 5.

Cyril Dias of Guardian Angel Sports Club was awarded the man-of-the-match by Remy Coutinho, former player and member of Goa Velha Sports Club.
