RAIA: Guirdolim SC scored a solitary goal victory over Parish Youth Nuvem to emerge champions in the 30th Mandopa Football Cup organised by Mandopa SC at the Mandopa ground, on Sunday.
The all-important goal of the match for Guirdolim SC was scored by Victorino Fernandes of a pass received from Mario Fernandes in the 41st minute of the match.
Chief guest Adv Valanka Alemao, chairperson-AIFF Women Football Committee, gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of guest of honour Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar, former MLA Avertano Furtado, Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, Navelim Zilla Panchayat Member Edwin Cardozo (Cipru), Parish Priest of Our Lady of Roary Church, Navelim, Fr Gabriel Coutinho, Navelim Sarpanch Michael Cardozo, club President Selvin Pereira, Vice-President Pradeep Verlekar, Secretary Avelino Silva, Treasurer Francisco Gomes, Sports Secretary Thomas Cost, and other dignitaries.
