PONDA: GVM’s Utkarsh Vidyamandir, Ponda, won the U-14 Boys and Dr K B Hedgewar Vidyalaya, Curti-Ponda, won U-17 Boys in the Ponda Taluka Mini- Secondary School Chess Championship 2025-26 organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at the Ponda Sports Complex, here, recently.
In the U-14 boys ranking, GVM’S Utkarsh Vidyamandir, Ponda; Vidya Vrudhi School, Ponda; Swastik Vidyalaya, Priol-Ponda and GVM’s KRSS High School, Savoi-Verem, Ponda.
In the U-17 boys ranking, Dr K B Hedgewar Vidyalaya, Curti-Ponda, Almeida High School, Ponda; Utkarsh VidyaMandir, Ponda and Swastik Vidyalaya, Priol-Ponda.
A total of 39 and 37 teams took part in the U-14 and 17 boys categories.
Ponda TSO Shailesh Goankar was the organiser and Senior National Arbiter, Vice-President of Ponda Taluka Chess Association and FIDE Instructor Wilson Cruz was the chief arbiter.
