I love you MS Dhoni, but it’s time to move on: Adam Gilchrist urges CSK icon to retire from IPL

Former Indian captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni hasn’t had a memorable IPL 2025. His team, Chennai Super Kings, has also struggled. CSK have played nine matches so far this season, out of which they’ve lost seven. With just four points, Chennai currently sit at the bottom of the points table. Although they are still technically in the playoff race, making it to the top four from here would require nothing short of a miracle.

Dhoni’s bat hasn’t done much talking either. In the nine matches he has played, he has managed to score only 140 runs. With Ruturaj Gaikwad injured, Dhoni is once again leading the team. Amid CSK’s poor run, former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist has made a strong statement about the legendary cricketer. Clearly a case of one wicketkeeper advising another!

Adam Gilchrist on MS Dhoni

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Adam Gilchrist said, “The biggest name, MS Dhoni. He doesn’t have anything left to prove to anyone in the game. He’s achieved everything there is to achieve. MS… well, he’ll know what he wants to do, but from a future point of view , and I know I’ll cop a bit for saying this , maybe he doesn’t need to be there next year. I love you, MS. You’re a champion, a great of the game.”
