Chennai Super Kings are surely struggling in the ongoing IPL. Yes, they recently got back on track by defeating LSG, but they are currently at the 10th spot, having won only 2 games and lost 5. To make matters worse, injuries have plagued the team throughout the season.
Recently, we saw Ruturaj Gaikwad sustain an elbow fracture, ruling him out of the IPL. Now, left-arm fast bowler Gurjapneet Singh, who was picked by CSK for INR 2.2 crore in the auction, has also been ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.
Chennai Super Kings have now signed South African all-rounder Dewald Brevis as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. Brevis, aged 21 and known for his aggressive batting style, reminds many of AB de Villiers. It will be interesting to see how things come for him in IPL 2025.
Brevis has prior IPL experience, having played for Mumbai Indians in the 2022 and 2024 seasons, appearing in a total of 10 matches. He has played 81 T20 matches overall, scoring 1,787 runs with a highest score of 162.
