MARGAO: FC Goa have officially announced the return of forward Aaren D’Silva on a short-term deal that will keep him donning the Club’s iconic orange jersey until the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.
“It’s always an honour to play for FC Goa,” Aaren stated after signing with the Gaurs. “This isn’t just my hometown club – it’s one of the biggest teams in India. I’ve been a fan of the Club since the ISL began, and being able to wear this shirt again means so much to me.
“As a footballer, I want to continue improving as a player, stay true to my work ethic, and contribute in any role the coach assigns me. Coach Manolo has always been a driving force in my development, both on and off the pitch. He’s like a father figure to me, pushing me to grow and excel. Playing under him is challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.”
Reflecting on his recent experience as a fan, the 27-year-old added, “Watching the fans at the last home match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant gave me goosebumps! I’m excited to give my all for the team and the Club in this new chapter of my career.”
Aaren’s association with FC Goa began in 2017 when he joined the Club’s Development Team from Sesa Football Academy. With the young Gaurs, he achieved notable success, winning the Goa Professional League in 2019 and the Goa Police Cup in 2020. He was subsequently promoted to the First Team ahead of the 2020-21 Indian Super League (ISL) season.
In 2021, the forward joined Hyderabad FC under then-Head Coach Manolo Marquez. During his tenure with the Nawabs, Aaren made 39 appearances, scoring four goals and assisting one. Most notably, he was part of the Hyderabad squad that lifted the ISL Cup in the 2021-22 season.
