It's all Jasprit Bumrah, as India’s premier fast bowler has achieved a historic feat by overtaking Pakistan’s Wasim Akram to become the highest wicket-taking Asian bowler in South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia—collectively known as SENA conditions. The landmark was reached during the ongoing first Test against England at Headingley, Leeds.

Bumrah dismissed Zak Crawley early in England’s innings and later broke a significant partnership between Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope by clean bowling Duckett. These wickets pushed Bumrah’s SENA tally to 147 wickets in 32 Tests, at a phenomenal average of 21.03, including nine five-wicket hauls and best figures of 6/33.

In comparison, legendary Pakistani seamer Wasim Akram claimed 146 wickets in 32 matches in SENA at an average of 24.11, with 11 five-wicket hauls and a best of 7/119.

Bumrah’s most dominant performances have come in Australia, where he has taken 64 wickets in 12 Tests at an average of 17.15, including four five-wicket hauls. In England, he has secured 39 wickets in 10 Tests at an average of 26.02, with a best of 5/64.

India Posts Massive 471 in First Innings vs England

Despite England electing to bowl first, India piled up a formidable total of 471, thanks to stellar centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal (101 off 159 balls), Shubman Gill (147 off 227), and Rishabh Pant (134 off 178).

Among England’s bowlers, Ben Stokes (4/66) and Josh Tongue (4/86) were the most successful in an otherwise tough outing.
