RAIA: Maina Sports Club came from behind to defeat Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, 2-1 and booked their place in the quarter-finals of 3nd2 Curtorim Panchayat Cup organised by Curtorim Gymkhana at Curtorim ground, on Monday. Both teams were goalless at break.
Don Bosco Oratory broke the deadlock into the 40th minute with Wedly Baretto heading in the goal.
In the final minutes of the match, Maina SC were awarded a penalty as Jovel was brought down in the opponents’ box. Savio converted the penalty to level the score. The match ended in high drama as Maina Sports Club took the lead in the very next minute with Maldino Rodrigues running down and taking control of the ball to shoot into the net beating the defence and goalkeeper. Maldino Rodrigues of Maina SC was awarded the man-of-the-match.
