RAIA: Mandopa Sporting Club marched into the semi-finals of 46th St Joseph Festival football tournament after registering a commanding 4-1 win over hosts Dramapur SC, at Dramapur ground, on Thursday.
The visitors started on the front foot and went into the breather with a comfortable 1-0 lead. In the second session, Mandopa Sporting Club proved too strong for the hosts, piling on goals with ease.
Sam Pereira opened the scoring for Mandopa SC in the 26th minute, followed by a neat finish from Richard Costa in the 36th minute. Sweden Costa added his name to the score-sheet just three minutes later, making it 3-0 by the 39th minute.
Before the half-time, Travis D’Sousa struck in the 45th minute, giving Mandopa SC a commanding cushion. For the home side, Rowan Fernandes managed to pull one back in the 56th minute, but it was too little, too late, as Mandopa Sporting Club controlled proceedings till the final whistle.
