RAIA: Navelim SC cruised into the quarter-finals of Benaulim Panchayat Cup with a commanding 3-0 victory over a spirited St Anthony Sports Club, Colva, in a thrilling encounter organised by St Sebastian Union Club at the St John the Baptist panchayat ground, Benaulim, on Wednesday.
St Anthony Sports Club’s young guns kicked off with flair, dominating early possession and showing great promise. But against the run of play, Clinton Niasso stunned the opposition with his power-packed shot that left rival goalkeeper Mycio rooted, putting Navelim SC ahead in the halftime.
The second half saw Navelim SC shift gears. Clinton struck again in the 34th minute, showcasing sharp finishing. Despite a valiant effort by Mycio with a string of brilliant saves, St Anthony Sports Club couldn’t hold back the wave.
Ronaldo and Joyson mesmerised with slick dribbles and clever passes before Ronaldo sealed the win for Navelim SC with a crisp strike in the 50th minute.
