RAIA: Navelim Sporting Club marched into the semi-finals of Benaulim Villagers Cup with a dominant 4-1 win over Cuncolim Union at the St John the Baptist ground, on Tuesday.

Cuncolim Union started brightly but wasted two golden chances in the opening minutes through Vinod Velip and Wilson.

Navelim SC capitalised on those missed opportunities, with Noah Luis striking twice in the 19th and 21st minutes to hand his side a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Cuncolim Union tried to fight back after the break and managed to pull one back through Birgesh Shelke in the 38th minute.

But Navelim SC responded immediately, Prestly Gomes restored the two-goal cushion in the 39th minute and Rehan Sayyed sealed the deal in a 44th-minute. Cuncolim Union’s late efforts were kept at bay by Navelim SC goalkeeper Selvin Gomes, who pulled off key saves to deny any further comeback.
