RAIA: Navelim Villagers Union scored a solitary goal win over Cuncolim Union to emerge champions in the United Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by United Club of Telaulim at the Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Sunday. The all-important goal for Navelim Villagers Union was scored by Ronaldo Pereira in the 29th minute of the match.
Former chief minister Churchill Alemao was chief guest and handed over the prizes in the presence of All India Football Federation Women’s Football Committee Chairperson Valanka Alemao, Our Lady of Rosary Church Parish Priest Fr Gabriel Coutinho, Assistant Parish Priest Fr Dylon D’Costa, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel, Telaulim, Chaplain Fr Valentine Alvares; Zilla Panchayat Member Edwin Cardozo, Navelim Sarpanch Michael Cardozo, Panch Netty Coelho, Kedar Jagdale of Royal Builders and Developers, former Goa Football Association Member Prakash Dessai, Tiatr Academy Chairman Anthony Barbosa, Anthony Pires, Alister Ferrao and Romeo Gomes.
