RAIA: Odisha FC delivered a crushing 6-0 victory over Churchill Brothers FC in the second edition of the Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy match, held at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Saturday.
Roy Krishna was the standout performer for Odisha FC, scoring a hat-trick. Churchill Brothers' Kilane Ebenezer Diamande put in a valiant effort but couldn't turn the tide for his team.
It was Odisha's Roy Krishna, wearing number 21, who broke the deadlock with a powerful strike in the 21st minute.
Roy Krishna continued his stellar performance with a clever shot that found the net in the 29th minute, putting Odisha up 2-0. In the 32nd minute, Churchill Brothers' Mathew Ofori Dunga cleared a header by Odisha's Rohit Kumar, but just four minutes later, Krishna completed his hat-trick with a simple tap-in, making it 3-0. Ashangbam Apgaoba Singh added to Odisha's lead with a goal in the 42nd minute, bringing the score to 4-0 before halftime.
In the second half, Odisha FC sealed their victory with two quick goals by Mawihmingthanga in the 86th and 89th minutes, finalising a 6-0 win.
In another match, Nine-man CSD Defensa y Justicia eased past Chennaiyin FC over a 2-0 win. Chennaiyin end their campaign with 3 points
Odisha finished top of the Group B with nine points from three matches, while CSD Defensa y Justicia claimed second place with six points. Both teams moved into semi-finals.
