FATORDA: Odisha FC played their hearts out to defeat Australian Brisbane Roars 2-1.
Odisha FC were in control of the match most of the time and set the ball rolling to put pressure on their opponents time and again to move into the final.
It was Hugo Bunomous, who netted the first goal with a placement shot in the just few minutes before the half time. FC Odisha Rahim Ali’s shot flied over the Brisbane Roars crossbar.
In the 61st minute, Hugo made it 2-0 by side stepping two defenders and outwitting Australia goalkeeper with a neat placement.
Thomas Waddingham reduced the margin for Brisbane Roars in the 63rd minute. In the 74th minute, Hugo was substituted by Moirang Them Thoiba Singh Thoiba.
This move of Odisha FC’s Diego Mauricio tested the Brisbane Roars goalkeeper in the 80th minute, but didn't scored as the Brisbane Roars goalkeeper was equal to the task.
In the 81st minute, James Oshea missed an easy sitter which could draw level.
Odisha FC will now face FC Goa in the final on September 6, at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, at 7 pm.
