VERNA: Our Lady of Health High School, Cuncolim edged past Holy Spirit Institute, Margao, 1-0, to move into the next round of the Independence Cup 2025, 2nd all-Goa U-17 inter-school football tournament, organised by Verna Sports Club, played at Verna Church ground.
The decisive goal was netted by Terence Fernandes in the second half. Despite creating several opportunities, Holy Spirit Institute failed to convert and were left ruing missed chances.
In the day’s second fixture, Infant Jesus High School, Colva secured a 1-0 victory over Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Cortalim. Both sides played an attacking brand of football, testing the goalkeepers with long-range efforts. The match-winner came in the dying minutes, courtesy of Lokendra Sunar, sealing the result for Colva.
