RAIA: Inform Parish Youth Nuvem defeated a spirited St Rock YC, Majorda, 3-1 to enter the semi-finals of Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim, on Tuesday.
Parish Youth Nvcem took the lead in the very 5th minute when a through ball by Leroy Colaco was latched on by Francis Colaco beating the offside trap to lead Parish Youth Nuvem 1-0.
St Rock YC did make an attempt on the left flank with Bevan D’Mello finding the net but was pulled up for offside.
At lemon time the score read 1-0 in favour of Parish Youth Nuvem.
In the second half, St Rock YC mounted a number of attacks with Bewan firing a stiff grounder which was well saved by goalkeeper Macwin Colaco of Praish Youth Nuvem.
It was against the run of play when Shenoy Colaco shot was partly stopped by Freddie Fernandes only to see the ball cross the goal to make the score, 2-0.
St Rock YC fought back with Ashley Mendes scoring to make the scoreline 1-2 but any hope of making a comeback were dashed when Francis Colaco of Parish Youth Nuvem scored his second goal with a powerful long range shot that dipped into the top corner of the goal to make the score 3-1.
Earlier, Ambelim SC scored a narrow victory over Guardian Angel SC via tiebreaker 5-4 to enter the quarter-finals.
In a match confined to midfield both, Ambelim SC and Guardian Angel SC had equal share of goal scoring chances but inapt and erratic shooting by the forwards did not produce any goals during regulation time.
Ambelim could have wrapped up the match but for a valiant save from goalkeeper Asfin Pinto who parried a close range shot from Velroy Fernandes for a corner.
For Guardian Angel SC Regan D'Costa got a loose ball in the box and dodged past two Ambelim SC defenders but shot wide from a handshaking distance.
In the penalty shoot-out Desmond Fernandes, Garry Fernandes, Ozen Da Silva, Blasco Fernandes and Velroy Fernandes converted for Ambelim SC, while for Guardian Angel SC Godwin D'Costa, Velroy Carvalho, Jerito Fernandes and Regan D'Costa scored but Ivo Costa's kick was blocked by Ambelim SC goalkeeper to take his side into the quarters.
