VERNA: Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim, pipped AIIM High School, Davorlim, by a solitary goal scored in the first half by Royden Carvalho in the Independence Cup organised by Verna Sports Club, at Verna Church ground, on Tuesday. AIIM Davorlim pressed hard for an equaliser in the second half but their strikers missed easy goal scoring chances. In the second match, Rosary High School, Cujira-Bambolim, moved past St Jude High School, Betalbatim, via tie-breaker 4-3. Both teams failed to break the deadlock and in the tie-breaker Rosary HS were the better shooters.
