RAIA: Demonstrating exceptional talent and teamwork, Pope John XXIII High School, Quepem, secured a remarkable double triumph by winning both the U-14 boys and girls’ titles in the Quepem Taluka Table Tennis Tournament organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.

In the finals, Pope John XXIII High School’s determination and discipline saw them through against a strong contingent from Don Bosco High School, Sulcorna.

In U-14 girls category, the team showcased a strong start as Alyka dominated the opening match defeating Ayushi in straight sets (11-4, 11-4). In the second match, Leska put up a spirited performance to overcome Mecanzia (11-5, 12-14, 11-7). Though Sheryl faced a tough challenge from Sneha of Don Bosco High School and lost a close match (11-6, 8-11, 9-11). Alyka sealed the title for Pope John XXIII High School by defeating Mecanzia once again (11-3, 8-11, 11-4). In the U-14 boys’ category, the team displayed complete dominance throughout. Placido set the tone with a comfortable win over Kenoy (11-3, 11-7). Brian followed up with a powerful performance outplaying Dhanjit (11-3, 11-5). Jedd made quick work of Sanjit, winning 11-6, 11-2, and sealing the championship in style.

With the emphatic win, Pope John XXIII High School will now represent Quepem Taluka at the upcoming District Level Table Tennis Championship.
