Fractures Veterans Crowned Panjim Veterans Champions with 2-0 Win Over Fatorda

PANJIM: Fractures Veterans, Verem, defeated Fatorda Veterans 2-0 in the final to emerge champions in the Panjim Veterans football tournament played at Santa Cruz ground, on Friday.

The game began with Fatorda Veterans creating an opportunity in the 20th minute but Savio Furtado’s attempt was thwarted by Fractures Veterans defender Mathew Gonsalves, former FC Pune.

Despite a goalless draw in the first half, Fractures Veterans after crossing over took the lead in the 40th minute when their star forward Prasad Dabholkar latched onto a long cross from Avinash Shirodkar to net in.

Prasad Dabolkar doubled the lead with a beautiful placement in the last minute of the final, while Remus Gomes of Fracture Veterans played a stellar role in the midfield.

Earlier, in an exhibition match Senior Citizen 60 shocked Just Fitness 55+ with a solitary goal victory.

Santa Cruz MLA Rudolf Fernandes was the chief guest, Tony Dias (former Commissioner of Custom and Central Excise) was the guest of honour, while Angelo Fernandes (former Superintendent of Custom and Central Excise), Allan D’Sa (former Superintendent of Police), Santosh Bandokar (Panch Pilerne-Marra Village Panchayat), Ambrosio Dias and Joaquim Moreira were the special invitees.
