Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a commanding performance to thrash Real Madrid 4-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 semi-final at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford. In front of a 77,542-strong crowd, PSG secured their place in Sunday’s final against Chelsea with a display of pace, precision, and pressing.
Fabian Ruiz was the standout performer, netting twice in the first half (6th and 24th minutes). His first came after Raul Asencio’s costly slip allowed Ousmane Dembele to win back possession and set up an easy finish. Dembele, a constant threat, capitalised on a misplaced pass by Antonio Rudiger just minutes later, scoring PSG’s second. Ruiz then bagged his second of the night, courtesy of a superb run and assist from Achraf Hakimi, as PSG overwhelmed Madrid’s sluggish defence.
Real Madrid, despite fielding star signing Kylian Mbappe against his former club for the first time, failed to spark. Mbappe, alongside Gonzalo Garcia, was effectively contained by a disciplined PSG backline. Gianluigi Donnarumma made two crucial saves, including one early stop from Mbappe, to preserve PSG’s clean sheet.
PSG held 76.5% possession in the first half and maintained control throughout, showcasing fluid build-up play and relentless pressing. The dominance capped another strong defensive display, with the Parisians recording their fifth clean sheet in six tournament matches.
Goncalo Ramos sealed the victory with a late strike in the 87th minute, underscoring PSG’s depth and intent. For Real Madrid, the defeat echoed their earlier 5-0 loss to Inter Milan in the Champions League final, raising fresh concerns over form and fitness.
PSG now advance to the final brimming with confidence, aiming to lift the Club World Cup trophy and crown a stellar campaign with international silverware.
