RAIA: Parish Youth Nuvem scored an unconvincing 8-7 win over Saligao United via tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of 17th London Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament 2025 organised by Goa Velha Sports Club at the club ground, Goa Velha, on Thursday.
Meislein Barreto of Parish Youth Nuvem saw his shot from close range parried back into play by the Saligao United goalkeeper Roylan Colaco in the 20th minute of play. Soham Shetikar of Saligao United headed wide from close thereby missing an opportunity to put Saligao United ahead in the 27th minute.
Later, Schubert Colaco put Parish Youth Nuvem ahead when he tapped home beating Roylan Colaco in the Saligao United goal in the 28th minute of play. Parish Youth Nuvem led by a solitary goal at the break.
Joywin Costa increased the lead when he shot home beating the Saligao United goalkeeper Roylan Colaco in the 42nd minute.
Soham Shetikar of Saligao United missed a chance to reduce the margin when he shot wide from a close range in the 45th minute.
Saligao United reduced the margin through veteran Michael Dias in the 65th minute. Latesh Mandrekar scored the equaliser for Saligao United through a well-taken free-kick which beat the Parish Youth Nuvem goalkeeper Salfan Dias in the 67th minute.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Parish Youth Nuvem scored through Joywin Costa, Darwin Colaco, Schubert Colaco, Cedar Colaco, Meislein Barreto and Salfan Dias. For Saligao United, Paulo Joao, Amancio Lobo, Latesh Mandrekar, Soham Shetikar and Leon Kerketta were on target. Parish Youth Nuvem will meet Navelim Villagers Union in the quarter-final on April 1.
