MANGESHI: Rajveer Patil and Diya Sawal won the Youth Club All Goa U-13 State Chess Selection in the Open and Girls category respectively organised by the Ponda Taluka Chess Association in collaboration with Mangirish Youth Club and Goa Chess Association, at the Wagle High School, Mangeshi, recently.
Saras Powar secured the second place and Sachit Pai the third place in the Open Category. Aaryavrat Desai, Vipul Kadam, Shaurya Agrasani, Raposo Maxwell, Rishit Gawas, Sairaj Narvenkar and Satyam Phal secured fourth to 10th place respectively.
Skyla Rodrigues finished second and Alaina Gomes at third place in the Girls Category. Asmi Terse, Krutika Aggarwal, Shreesha Ghadi, Kaya Coutinho, Serena Viegas, Lyia Silveira and Lavanya Naik secured fourth to 10th place respectively.
Consolation prizes were awarded to U-11 Open: Vihaan Tari, Prachet Malvankar, U-11 girls: Shinel Rodrigues, Avani Sawaikar. U-9 Open: Prayank Gaonkar, Narayan Prabhudesai. U-9 girls: Drisha Ghonge, Vania Dukle.
U-7 Open: Evan Telles, Vivaan Kadam. U-7 girls: Aradhya Desai, Jigsaya Gawas. Ponda Taluka players (U-13 Open): Nirbhay Gaude, Nilay Gaude, Tansh Gaude, Sarthak Naik, Anay Chavan and Nityam Gaude.
Ponda Taluka players (U-13 girls): Niharika Gaonkar, Paaviya Naik, Amaira Borkar, Prarthana Maujekar, Aarya Helekar and Ishika Naik.
Goa Chess Association President Mahesh Candolkar was the chief guest for the prize distribution function. Also present were Goa Chess Association Secretary Ashesh Keni, Ponda Taluka Chess Association President Sagar Sakordekar,
Secretary Amogh Namshiker, Chief Arbiter Arvind Mhamal, Mangirish Youth Club President Damodar Naik, Sports Secretary Kunal Mangeshkar and Treasurer Ratnakar Pai.
Jayashree Savaikar and Nevilly Cabral compered. Earlier, Sagar Sakordekar welcomed and later Amogh Namshiker proposed a vote of thanks.
