RAIA: Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem, thrashed Carmel Sports Club, Navelim, 4-1, to reach the quarter-finals of 17th St Anthony Festival Cup organised by St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda, at Moll ground, Assolda, on Tuesday.
Guardian Angel SC drew first blood in the 34th minute of play with the efforts of Fedrich Fernandes with a well-measured volley, while Velington Almeida’s powerful 30-yard shoot kissed the crossbar and went out of play.
Guardian Angel SC were 1-0 ahead at the breather.
Changing over, Guardian Angel SC took control of the game and scored three more goals, a brace by Raston Costa in 40th and 59th minute of play, while Cyril Dias scored in the 48th minute. Then Velington Almeida of Carmel Sports Club pulled one goal back.
