Mapusa RCC Dominates Senior Men and Women Categories at State Judo Championship 2024-25

PANJIM: The Mapusa RCC won the Senior Men and Women State Judo Championship 2024-25 orgainised by the Goa Judo Association at the Peddem sports complex, Mapusa, recently.

The championship drew an enthusiastic response with over 300 judokas participating across Cadet, Sub Junior and Senior categories.

In a display of strength and skill, RCC Mapusa emerged victorious in both the Senior Men and Senior Women categories, solidifying their dominance in the State’s judo circuit.

“We received a very good response across all three age groups at the State Judo Championship 2024-25. It was encouraging to see the enthusiasm and competitive spirit among the participants. With over 300 judokas taking part, the championship showcased the growing interest and talent in judo across the State,” said Kripesh Vengurlekar, secretary of the Goa Judo Association.

The championship was inaugurated by chief guest Priya Mishal, chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council. In her address, she praised the participants for their dedication and commended the Goa Judo Association for providing a platform to nurture young sporting talent.

The Goa Judo Association extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants for their exemplary performances. The event served as a testament to the growth of judo in Goa and the remarkable talent emerging from the State’s training centers and clubs.

Results: Cadet Boys - winners Ponda RCC, runners-up Panaji RCC. Cadet Girls - winners Panaji RCC, runners-up - Mapusa RCC. Senior Men - winners Mapusa RCC, runners-up Panaji RCC. Senior Women - winners Mapusa RCC, runners-up Panaji RCC. Best judokas - cadet boys Pavan Patel (Ponda RCC). Cadet girls - Afasha Shaikh (Panjim RCC). Senior Men - Umesh Kamble (Bandora Judo Club). Senior Women - Tanishka Shivolkar (Mapusa RCC).
