MAPUSA: New entrant Chapora Yuvak Sangh SC stunned FC Goa by 3-2 margin in the Goa Professional League match played at the Duler Stadium, here, on Tuesday.
Young Gaurs under the leadership of coach Israel Gurung saw his development squad have better ball possession and attacks at the rival goal in the first session of play, where their skipper Malsawmtluanga along with defender Asher Rodrigues and defender Konsam Singh combined well to provide the required ammunition to strikers Jovial Dias and U-21 Shawn Fernandes upfront.
Young Gaurs went into the breather with two goals cushion through Konsam Singh (31st minute) and Shawn Fernandes (39th minute). However, Rohan Kamble, Sachidanand Satelkar and Rohan Pednekar scored a goal each for Chapora YS.
In the very 2nd minute of play, Young Gaurs should have scored when a U-21 Sangam Shetye sent a dip low cross at the goal to Jovial Dias but before the latter could connect the ball Chapora YS’ custodian Tanesh Kankonkar brought a daring save.
At the other end, Chapora YS’ Richard Cardozo sent a long ball inside the goal area to find Young Gaurs’ Konsam Singh head the ball for a corner.
After Konsam Singh and Sangam Shetye missed to score, finally, in the 31st minute, Konsam moved upfront and after dribbling a host of defenders latched a rasping shot to the far corner of the goal, 1-0.
Chapora YS had two glorious chances to score but Aman Govekar and then Rohan Pednekar fumbled in front of the goal.
Young Gaurs netted their second goal from an intelligent move initiated by medio Asher Rodrigues, who found Sangam Shetye on the right flank whose deadly cross was coolly connected by Shawn Fernandes, 2-0.
On crossing over, complexion of the match changed with the sending off Konsam for indecent and goalkeeper Lionel Rymmei for handling the ball outside the penalty box.
Chapora YS’ new signing coach Levino Pereira brought in Sachidanand Satelkar upfront from the bench who was instrumental in the equaliser.
Rohan Kamble scored a gem of a goal as his free-kick took a wicked deflection off Young Gaurs defender and crashed into the goal, 1-2.
Pepped up by the goal, Chapora YS substitute Chaitan Dabholkar found Vinayak Rane on the right flank whose cross was brilliantly headed by substitute Sachidanand Satelkar into the goal, 2-2.
There was no looking back for Chapora YS as in the 83rd minute a rasping shot by Rohan Pednekar hit Young Gaurs defender Wesley D’Sa to find the ball land into the goal 3-2.
Rohan Kamble of Chapora YS received the player-of-the-match award from Goa Football Association Executive Committee member Uday Lingudkar.
