RAIA: Santa Cruz Cumbiabhatt B and Mix Boys Velim move into the quarter-finals of the 1st edition of Assolna Velim, Cuncolim Chinchinim (AVCC) open invitational 9-a-side football tournament in memory of Fr Druston Correia, Macduf Monteiro, Fr Nevel Gracias organised by FAVV at Velim ground, on Wednesday.

Santa Cruz Cumbiabhatt B moved past Sporting Club Pocklivoll 2-1. Velroy Rebello’s double strike (15’, 30’) secured the win for Santa Cruz Cumbiabhatt B, despite Kenny Fernandes’ early goal (10’) for Sporting Club.

Velroy Rebello was awarded the player-of-the-match award.

Mix Boys followed suit, beating Rangali Union 1-0. Stalin Da Cruz’s 10th-minute volley assisted by Nieall Cardozo gave Mix Boys a 1-0 lead. Cardozo’s outstanding performance earned him the player-of-the-match award.
