RAIA: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club sailed into quarter-finals defeating a spirited Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, 4-3, via tie-breaker in the 50th Chandor Seamen football tournament organised by Chandor Club at Chandor Church complex ground, on Saturday.
Don Bosco Oratory were leading 1-0 in the first half as an experienced Francis shot the ball into an wide open Sao Jose de Areal SC net in the16th minute.
After changing ends, the Sao Jose Areal SC seemed to be playing with more determination. In the 50th minute, Derryl D’Costa was brought down by Don Bosco Oratory defender in the box which resulted in a penalty-kick, which was ably converted in the 51st minute by Bensal Viegas bringing parity.
In the tie-breaker that followed Bensal Viegas, Darryl Costa and Aryan Carvalho were on target for the Sao Jose de Areal SC, while only Francis Andrade was on target for Don Bosco Oratory.
Chandor Club presented a memento of the Golden Jubilee year to Don Bosco Oratory in the hands of past president Basil Fernandes.
