Sesa FA Triumphs with Dominant 5-2 Victory to Win 8th Goa Women’s Football Trophy

MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy registered a well-deserved 5-2 win over Livval Sporting Association to clinch the 8th Goa Football Association-Vedanta Women’s Football Trophy in the match played under floodlights at Duler Stadium, here, on Tuesday.

Unbeaten Sesa FA were indeed a far better side as they went into the breather with 3-0 margin.

Pushpa Parab put her team ahead scoring with a brilliant finish in the very first minute, 1-0.

As the match progressed, a long ball by Alisha Tavares was controlled by Arpita Pednekar, who darting inside the 18-yard box, placed the ball into the goal, 2-0.

In the 22nd minute, skipper Sushmita Jadav guided the ball into the goal off a square pass by Pushpa Parab, 3-0.

On resumption of play, Arpita Pednekar pumped in the fourth goal.

However, in the 61st minute, Karen Estrocio managed to pull a goal for Livval Sporting Association 4-1.

In the 85th minute, Livval Sporting Association skipper Jossel Mascarenhas netted second goal, 4-2.

In the stoppage time, Flani Costa pumped in the fifth goal, 5-2.

At the breather, GFA’s Women’s Chairperson Rocky Maymol and GFA’s Competition Vice-Chairman Laxman Hadfadkar escorted chief guest

Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, GFA President Caitan Fernandes and GFA s Executive Committee members from the North and South and Sesa FA Management were introduced to the players and match officials.

Sesa FA received the winner’s trophy and cash prize of Rs1 lakh, while Livval Sporting Association took home the runners-up trophy and Rs 75,000.

Calangute Association third place trophy and Rs 50,000.

Maina SC, Patrong SC and Guardian Angel SC received trophies and certificates.

Worrel D’Souza and Anthony Lobo compered, while Rocky Mymol proposed a vote of thanks.
