RAIA: SFX Camarxett booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2nd Caniza Peixoto memorial football tournament with a 2-1 win over Paldem Sports Club, at the St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday. The tournament is organised by Black Arrow Boys Agxem Sports Club.
SFX Camarxett made an early breakthrough in the 10th minute when Velroy Pass unleashed a stunning 30-yard volley that crashed into the net, giving his side a 1-0 lead. Paldem had a golden opportunity to equalise in the 20th minute, but Benito failed to convert.
Just two minutes later, SFX doubled their advantage through Anslem Fernandes, who found the back of the net to put his team 2-0 ahead going into the break.
After the restart, Paldem Sports Club came out with renewed purpose and reduced the deficit in the 32nd minute through Elton. Despite sustained pressure and a series of attacking moves involving Elton, Seby, and Francisco, Paldem were unable to find the equaliser as the SFX defence and goalkeeper held firm until the final whistle.
Velroy Paes of SFX Camarxett was declared man-of-the-match.
