Sinquerim Sports Club Triumphs Over Goa Velha in High-Scoring Tie-Breaker to Reach Quarter-Finals

RAIA: Sinquerim Sports Club scored a 7-5 win over hosts Goa Velha Sports Club via tie-breaker in a high scoring match to move into the quarter finals of 17th London Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament 2025 organised by Goa Velha Sports Club at its ground, Goa Velha, on Sunday.

Arun Palyekar opened the scoring for Sinquerim Sports Club when he tapped home after the Goa Velha goalkeeper Sairaj Chodankar failed to collect clearly a well taken free-kick by Sahil Parwar in the 8th minute.

Akash Sanadi missed a chance to equalise for Goa Velha Sports Club when his effort from the left was parried into play by the Sinquerim goalkeeper Aniket Naik in the 10th minute.

Sahil Parwar consolidated the lead for Sinquerim Sports Club to make it 2-0 when his power-packed long ranger sailed into the Goa Velha Sports Club net beating Sairaj Chodankar in the goal in the 16th minute.

Ranjit Tete made it 3-0 in favour of Sinquerim Sports Club in the 27th minute. Sinquerim Sports Club led 3-0 at the break.

Sarjeev Kunkolkar reduced the margin for Goa Velha Sports Club when he headed home beating Aniket Naik in the Sinquerim SC goal off a corner taken by Akash Sanadi in the very 1st minute of the second half.

Akash Sanadi made it 2-3 when he further reduced the margin for Goa Velha Sports Club when his long range crashed into the Sinquerim SC net.

Sahil Parwar made it 4-1 in favour of Sinquerim SC through a power-packed shot.

Francis Afonso scored for Goa Velha Sports Club to make it 3-4. Goa Velha Sports Club were lucky to get the equaliser and make it 4-4 when a clearance by Sinquerim SC defender hit Satish Kankonkar and landed into the Sinquerim SC net.

In the ensuing tie-breaker, Sinquerim Sports Club scored through Aryan Salunke, Gopal Gaddi and Krish Naroji. Goa Velha Sports Club managed to score only through Francis Afonso. Sainath Kankonkar and Sarjeev Kunkolkar shot wide while Krishab Madkaikar saw his effort saved by the Sinquerim SC goalkeeper.

Sinquerim Sports Club will meet Peddem Bomm Sports Club in the quarter-finals on April 3.

Sahil Parwar of Sinquerim Sports Club was awarded the man-of-the-match by Omkar Vaigankar, executive committee member of Goa Football Association.

In the earlier match, Peddem Bomm Sports Club came from behind to register a 3-1 win over Nerul Sports Club and move into the quarter-finals

Nehal Naik put Nerul Sports Club ahead in the 12th minute. Faheez Mohammad scored the equaliser for Peddem Bomm Sports Club in the 23rd minute. Both the teams were tied 1-1 at the lemon break.

In the second half, Nikhil Naik unfortunately put the ball into his own net when he deflected the ball off a Faheez Mohammad cross to put Peddem Bomm Sports Club ahead in the 41st minute. Santosh Bhulan scored the third goal to seal the win in favour of Peddem Bomm Sports Club in the 48th minute.

Anuj Kuttikar of Nerul Sports Club was cautioned by the Referee Shravan Lamani.

Renny Dias of Peddem Bomm Sports Club was awarded the man-of-the-match by Alex Gonsalves, member of Goa Velha Sports Club.
