Sinquerim SC prove it in penalty shoot-out

MAPUSA: Sinquerim SC got the better Betalbatim SC by 6-5 margin via sudden death to move into the next round of Candolim Panchayat Cup organised by Candolim SC, at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, on Tuesday.

Play was mostly restricted to the midfield. Sinquerim SC goalkeeper brought two superlative saves in the last minute of the first session.

On crossing ends, in the 55th minute of play, Sinquerim SC’s Krish Naroji shot sailed inches over the horizontal bar.

At the end of regulation time, both teams failed to open an account and settled for a goalles draw. In the resultant tie-breaker, Sinquerim SC proved to be the better shooters.

Cup: Raia Sporting Club

Raia Sporting Club registered a hard fought 3-2 win over Assonora United FC in the Calangute Panchayat Cup organised in memory of Rev Fr Conceicao D’Silva by St Savio Sports Club, Calangute, at Poriat ground, on Tuesday.

Projot Naik netted a brace for Assonora United.

Raia Sporting Club regrouped themselves and came with repeated attacks on the rival citadel but Assonora United goalkeeper Harsh Bhagat brought number of saves.

Finally in the 22 minute, Velito Cruz scored with a powerful shot for Raia Sporting, 2-1.

On crossing over, in very 4th minute, Velito Cruz’s 22-yard free-kick hit the crossbar.

Roy Colaco equalised with neat placement for Raia Sporting Club, 2-2.

In the 48th minute, Raia Sporting Club’s Leran Dias had a chance to take the lead but failed to convert it.

Roy Colaco netted his second goal for Raia Sporting Club to put his team ahead, 3-2. The man-of-the-match award was bagged by Roy Colaco.

Peddem Bomm SC registered a well deserved 2-0 win against St Savio’s SC, Calangute, in the Xetrapal Cup organised by Xetrapal SC, Oxel, at Oxel ground, on Tuesday.

Peddem Bomm SC’s Sagun put his team ahead in the 10th minute of play with a neat placement, 1-0

On crossing over, St Savio’s SC exerted tremendous pressure on the rival citadel but Peddem Bomm SC defence failed to bulge under pressure. Peddem Bomm SC scored their second goal through Krupal Dhargalkar from a long range strike, 2-0.
