RAIA: Favourites Sporting Club Davorlim cruised into the finals of the 19th Super Soccer inter-village football tournament with a dominant 5-1 victory over Parish Youth Nuvem, on Wednesday. The tournament is being organised by United Club of Benaulim and played at the St John de Baptista football ground, Benaulim.

Nuvem were left to rue several missed chances in the opening half, with forwards Francisco Colaco and Albino Pereira looking lively but failing to convert. The Davorlim defence, although tested, managed to hold firm until the break.

The floodgates opened just five minutes into the second half, much to the delight of the large crowd. Davorlim striker M Ajay Raj capitalised on a mix-up between Nuvem goalkeeper Selfan Dias and defender Nicolou Colaco to net the opener in the 35th minute. Moments later, winger Selwin Miranda and Milton Colaco struck in quick succession, leaving Nuvem reeling.

Alent Colaco added his name to the scoresheet in the 43rd minute, before substitute Velliston Colaco sealed the win with a fifth goal. Nuvem managed a consolation through medio Alvito Dias, who converted a penalty.

Selwin Miranda of Sporting Club Davorlim was named man-of-the-match and received the award from panchayat member Manoj Kesarkar
