MAPUSA: Doyal Alves 44th minute goal enabled Sporting Clube de Goa register a solitary goal win over FC Goa in the Goa Professional Super League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Tuesday.

Table toppers Sporting Clube went into the breather with a goal cushion from a neat finish from striker Doyal off a square pass from his skipper Dattaraj Gauncar 1-0.

With this win Sporting Clube stay atop of the GPL table with 41 points from 16 matches, while FC Goa stay on 30 points from 17 matches.

It was lacklustre first session where both the keepers were hardly tested.

Young Gaurs too had just one good 30-yard strike from Lemmet Tangvah which was confidently collected by Sporting Clube’s custodian Siddharth Rana.

Just five minutes into the second session and Young Gaurs lost a glorious chance to level terms. A curling strike by Shaikh Ismail was brilliantly pushed for a corner by Sporting Clube’s custodian with a full-stretched diving save.

Two more chances were squandered by Lalthangliana and U-21 Sitroy Carvalho where their placement travelled wide.

Flaming Oranje had another chance to double their lead but Joyson Gauncar shot out.
