MAPUSA: Chapora Yuvak Sangh trounced Young Boys of Tonca 4-0 in the Goa Football Association’s Division I Group B League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
With this win, Chapora Yuvak Sangh have 12 points, while Young Boys of Tonca stay on 9 points.
Chapora Yuvak Sangh went into the breather with three goals cushion.
Chapora Yuvak Sangh made a bright start by opening their account in the 14th minute where Cain Fernandes’ corner at the far end was headed by Myron Fernandes to unmarked Rohan Pednekar, who coolly nodded the ball into the goal, 1-0.
Six minutes later, Chapora Yuvak Sangh almost doubled their lead but Young Boys of Tonca custodian Ashik Gazi thwarted Cain in one to one situation.
In the 40th minute, once again, Cain brilliantly curled his corner to Salman Khan, who scored with a smart header, 2-0.
Chapora Yuvak Sangh netted their third goal in the stoppage time through Joaquim Carvalho, who scored from the penalty spot after Young Boys of Tonca defender had handled the ball inside the penalty box, 3-0.
On crossing ends, in the very first minute, Young Boys of Tonca should have bounced back into the match but Chapora Yuvak Sangh custodian Ozen Silva blocked Manish Murmu placement for a corner.
At the other end, Young Boys of Tonca goalkeeper blocked Cain stiff grounder from a close.
In the last quarter of the match, Young Boys of Tonca missed two scoring opportunities through Yasash and Nur Gaine, while in the 86th minute, Chapora Yuvak Sangh substitute Saimesh Gaonkar getting hold of a loose ball darted inside the Young Boys of Tonca 18-yard box and drilled his strike past the rival custodian, 4-0.
At Poriat ground, Calangute, St Anthony’s SC, Marna-Siolim, continued on their winning run as they edged past Albert Developers SC 2-1.
With the win, St Anthony’s SC, top the Group B table with 18 points, while Albert Developers SC stay on 10 points.
