RAIA: St Rock’s Youth Club, Calata-Majorda, staged a thrilling second-half comeback to secure a 2-1 victory over St Anthony’s Club, Colva, in the GFA Division III League match played at St John the Baptist ground, Dando, Benaulim, on Wednesday.
St Anthony’s Club looked in control early on, with Rohan Naik breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute, giving his side a slim advantage heading into halftime. But St Rock’s Youth Club came out firing after the break, levelling the score in the 48th minute through Myron Pereira’s precise finish.
Just five minutes later, Shawn Fernandes added a second for St Rock’s Youth Club, completing the comeback and putting them in control.
Despite St Anthony’s Club late efforts to claw their way back, St Rock’s Youth Club goalkeeper Fredy Fernandes delivered a solid performance between the posts, denying several attempts and ensuring his team’s 2-1 triumph.
