MAPUSA: St Savio’s SC, Calangute, registered a hard-fought 4-3 win over St Anthony’s SC, Marna-Siolim, to enter the semi-finals of 3rd Rosary Cup Mandrem Soccer tournament organised by Dunes Sports Club Mandrem, at Mandrem Village Panchayat ground, Mandrem, on Thursday.
St Anthony’s SC surged ahead in the very 5th minute of play through a neat placement by Sudhin Shirodkar, 1-0. St Savio’s SC exerted tremendous pressure on the rival citadel and equalised in the 16th minute through a stiff grounder from Pedro Gonsalves, 1-1.
At half an hour mark, Richard Cardoz scored to put St Savio’s SC ahead, 2-1.
On crossing over, St Savio’s SC further increased their lead through Pedro Gonsalves to make it 3-1.
As the match progressed, Sudin Shirodkar netted his brace for St Anthony SC, 3-2. In the last quarter of the match, Minguel Silveira scored for St Savio’s SC, while Johnathan Pereira scored a solo goal for St Anthony’s SC to make 4-3.
The first goal scorer was awarded to Sudin Shirodkar of St Anthony’s SC.
