St Sebastian SC, Peddem Bomm, and Shiroda YC Advance in Goa’s Inter-Village Football Tournaments

CALANGUTE/RAIA: St Sebastian Sports Club edged past Calangute Association in a dramatic penalty shoot-out 6-5 to move into the semi-finals of Calangute Association Cup inter-village football tournament in the quarter-final match played at Poriat ground, here, on Sunday.

Calangute Association dominated much of the game, creating several near-scoring opportunities but were unable to convert their chances into the goals. At the end of regulation time, both teams settled for a goalless draw.

The resilient St Sebastian SC side held their ground and forced the match into a tense tie-breaker, where they emerged victorious by a single goal margin.

The man-of-the-match was awarded to Edwin Viegas, who played a pivotal role in the outcome and was honoured by Filipe Dias, former vice-president of Calangute Association.

Peddem Bomm SC

Peddem Bomm SC, Anjuna, defeated Augustias SC, Pomburpa, 6-4 via tie-breaker to move into the next round of Nerul Cup 2025 organised by Nerul Sports Club, at Nerul Sports Club ground, on Sunday. At full time, the score remained goalless draw.

In the resultant tie-breaker, Peddem Bomm netted through Kripal, Vinayak, Rohan, Soma, Akash, Saish and for Augustias SC Raju, Akash, Umesh and Buvan were on target.

Shiroda YC

Shiroda Youth Club blanked Varca Sports Club 3-0 to enter into the quarter-finals of St Rock’s Super Soccer inter-village football tournament played at Majorda ground, on Sunday.

Leading by two goals at the breather, Shiroda Youth Club scored through a goal each by Tejas Gaude, Daniel Cruz and Flint Dias. Tejas Gaude of Shiroda Youth Club was adjudged as the man-of-the-match by Diogo Gonsalves.

Guardian Angel SC

Guardian Angel Sports Club advanced into the semi-finals of 27th Holy Cross inter-village football tournament with a hard-fought 2-1victory over Guirdolim Club in an intense quarter-final clash at Vodlemol ground, Kakoda, on Sunday.

The match sparked to life early with Guardian Angel SC taking the lead in the 13th minute throughJaison. Mildroy doubled the lead making it 2-0.

The second half saw Guirdolim Club launched wave after wave of attacks and in the 55th minute reduced the margin through Akram.
