St Xavier’s top Bardez

MAPUSA: A brilliant hat-trick by Deepa Shirodkar gave St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa a comfortable 4-1 victory over St Xavier High School, Moira in the final of under-17 girl’s Subroto Mukerjee Bardez Taluka inter-school football tournament at Tivim ground, on Tuesday. The winners led 3-0 at the breather.

Deepa registered a brace in the first session which was sandwiched by a goal from Sneha Kerkar. Changing over, hard-working Deepa secured her hat-trick while Sushmita Jadhav reduced the margin for St Xavier HS.

Later, in a third place match, Holy Cross High School, Siolim outplayed Assagao Union High School, Assagao 10-0. They led 6-0 at half time.

Sindhiya Saudatikar did most of the damage with five goals and she was well supported by a hat-trick from Manisha Salgaonkar and a goal each by Vinisha Shirodkar and Flevina Rodrigues.
