PANJIM: Goa’s most promising swimmer, Durva Atul Mahale, studying in People’s High School, Mala-Panjim has set her eyes on achieving excellence with her skill and ability in the sport.  
Durva’s passion for swimming began at an early age and she grew in confidence over the years after receiving training from her coach Deepak Chetri, at the Campal swimming pool complex, in Panjim.
She went on to make a huge splash at the recently concluded 27th State Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Aquatic championship, held at Peddem swimming complex, in Mapusa. 
Durva, with her strong strokes and hard training overcame stiff contest from other competitors. She outshined in the pool bagging two gold medals. Adding to that, the young sensation also secured two silver and a bronze medal.
In the 50m breaststroke event for girls Gr. 4, Durva emerged second with a timing of 00:51:41, just behind Sanjana Prabhugaonker (00.49.47) who finished top while Anaika Afonso (00.54.47) had to settle for the third place.
Durva (00.43.56) put up a tough performance in the 50m freestyle Gr and finished in the third position while Maria D'Souza (00.39.30) secured the top place and Anaika Afonso (00.43.10) took the second spot. Her next bronze medal came in the 50m butterfly event with a timing of 00:48:42.
The event was hosted by Mapusa Swimmers Club to give a platform for young swimmers to display their talent and ability.
Durva has excelled academically and is working hard to achieve a huge haul of medals and represent the State and country in future.
