PANJIM: A hat-trick from Valaina Fernandes guided The King’s School to outplay St Joseph Co-Ed School, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh 4-0 to emerge champions in the CBSE U-17 Girls National Football Championship held at the RMK Residential Senior Secondary School ground, Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday.
The King’s School scored the goals through the efforts of Keren D’Souza, who scored one goal and Valaina Fernandes netting a hat-trick.
This victory is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the players, who have spent months in regular and focused training under the guidance of Sports Director Christian Roldan. His strategic thinking and philosophy has been the cornerstone of the team’s success.
This milestone would not have been possible without the unwavering support of The King’s School Chairman Melvin Pereira, and Director Ligia Pereira, for whom this achievement was once a dream and now a reality.
Earlier, in the semi-final, The King’s School got the better of Army Public School Nehru Road, Uttar Pradesh, 6-1.
Analee D’Costa, Neha Verlecar, Vanya Rodrigues and Keren D’Souza scored a goal each, while Valaina Fernandes netted a brace for The King’s School.
Valaina Fernandes was named Player of the Tournament for her exceptional performance, having scored an impressive total of 14 goals throughout the championship. The King’s School team scored a total of 29 goals in six matches, conceding only one goal during the entire tournament.
