MAPUSA: Thivim Karate Dojo students brought home a total of 29 medals - 9 gold, 4 silver and 16 bronze - at the IJKAI Karate National Championship, held recently at the Peddem badminton stadium, Mapusa. The tournament saw over 400 participants from across India competing in various age categories.
The athletes, who were trained under Sensei Sandesh Santosh Kolikar (Black Belt 3rd Dan) and coach of the Thivim IJKAI Dojo, displayed impressive skill and determination throughout the event.
In the Under 8 years category, Meryl Fernandes earned two gold medals, while Aryan Shinde secured one gold and one bronze. In the Under 10 years category, Kanak Bagkar won a bronze, Sharav Naik bagged two golds, Maheer Dodamani claimed a gold, and Ricean Rodrigues earned a bronze.
In the Under 12 years category, Varadaa Shetye Korgaonkar and Gunjan Vengurlekar each took home a bronze, as did Franzer Desousa and Mahaj Porob, who won two bronzes.
In the Under 14 years category, Nishant Malgi claimed one gold and one silver, Adarsh Nair earned one silver and one bronze, Parth Walavalkar won two bronzes, and Vicky Pednekar secured one bronze. Swarit Ghanekar took home a silver and a bronze, while Mihir Kolgaonkar and Sergio Pereira won one bronze each.
In the Under 18 years category, Pallavi Kalangutkar triumphed with two gold medals, and Anushka Naik won one silver and one bronze.
