MORJIM: Goa won their three respective categories they participated in, windsurfers in the U-19 category finished with promise for the future and North East India had its first representative as the All India Windsurfing and Kitesurfing Championship 2025 organised by Bord Sailing Association (BSA) and Premier Kiteboarding Association (PKA) at Vithaldas Vaddo, here, came to an end on Sunday.
Siblings Katya and Dayne Coelho once again stamped their class in the iQFoil category for women and men respectively; Keona Rajani proved her decision to switch from windsurfing to kiteboarding is right; 11-year-old Naavya Kaku showed she is capable of realising her big dreams and Nikhamoni Bora from North East that the mountains cannot deter a windsurfer’s determination.
After two days of gusty winds, the winds conditions dropped but that did not blur the enthusiasm of the windsurfers from across India for whom sailing on the Goa coastline was an experience.
“Sailing conditions in Goa are the best and therefore coming here is an opportunity to get a feel of sailing conditions abroad,” said DP Chennaih, who bagged the gold in the Raceboard men category.
