United Club of Ambaulim Edge Past Fr Agnelo YSC in Shootout to Enter St Anthony Festival Cup Semi-Finals

RAIA: United Club of Ambaulim edged past Fr Agnelo YSC, Paroda, 4-3 via tie-breaker in the quarter-final to book their place in the semi-finals of 17th St Anthony Festival Cup 2025, at Moll ground, Assolda, on Tuesday.

The clash between United Club of Ambaulim and Fr Agnelo YSC was a tense and tightly contested affair, played before a roaring crowd of nearly 2,000 spectators. Both teams, considered strong title contenders, delivered an exciting display of attacking football.

Rohan Gauncar (Fr Agnelo YSC) and Crimson Fernandes (United Club of Ambaulim) led the charge upfront but missed early scoring opportunities in the 4th and 6th minute, respectively.

It was Jesvan Fernandes, who finally broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, putting United Club of Ambaulim ahead with a powerful downward header. However, the lead was short-lived, as Joy Fernandes of Fr Agnelo YSC curled in a brilliant equaliser just three minutes later.

With the full-time score locked at 1-1, the match proceeded to a tie-breaker where United Club of Ambaulim held their nerve to seal a narrow 4-3 victory.

Ivon Fernandes of United Club of Ambaulim was adjudged the man-of-the-match and received the award from Adv John Fernandes, secretary of United Boys of Ambaulim.
