RAIA: Uguem Rising Club edged past Navelim Villagers Union 5-3 via tie-breaker in the final to emerge champions in the Cavelossim Panchayat Cup 2025 played at the Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim.
Both teams played an attacking soccer and couldn’t break the deadlock till the final whistle settling for a goalless draw. The winner was decided by penalty shoot-out.
In the resultant tie-breaker, for Uguem Rising Club Macson D’Costa, Handlee Carvalho, Rutik Bandodkar, Austin Couthino and Israel Gomes were on target, while Nash Pereira, Ronaldo Pereira and Noah Luis scored for Navelim Villagers Union
Chief guest Minister of Panchayat, Transport and Industries Mauvin Godinho gave away the prizes in presence of Police Inspector Sherif Jacques,
Cavelossim Sarpanch and club Chairman Dixon Vaz, Fr Ubaldo Fernandes and Fr Saude Pereira of Holy Cross Parish, Cavelossim; Deputy Sarpanch Rinku Lobo, Village Panchayat Secretary John Colaco, panch members John Barreto, Jesus Da Costa, Iris Passanha, Delfina Vaz and Swizel Barreto; VDC Chairman Bonaventure Vaz, Bio Diversity Chairman Roy Barreto, Disaster Management Committee Chairman Prince Pereira, Road Safety Committee Chairman Viritao Mendes, Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Lea Rebello, Goa Football Association Vice-President Anthony Pango, former sarpanchas and former panchas Cavelossim, former chairmen, former presidents and officials of the club and other dignitaries.
