RAIA: United Club of Verna entered the semi-finals of 4th Betalbatim Villagers Cup with a hard-fought 6-4 victory over St Anthony SC, Marna-Siolim, at panchayat ground, Betalbatim, on Monday.

UC Verna scored in the 2nd minute with a beautiful shot from Sheldon Pereira. UC Verna made it 2-0 in the 3rd minute through Clifton Rebello. St Anthony SC dominated the match thereafter but could not penetrate the UC Verna defence. UC Verna were awarded a penalty in the 20th minute, which was converted by Jesloy Moniz, to make it 3-0.

Jesloy scored again to make it 4-0 in the very next minute. At half time, the score was 4-0 in favour of UC Verna.

UC Verna increased the tally in the 50th minute to make 5-0 through Clifton Rebello. They further increased their tally to make it 6-0 in the very next minute through Royden Rego.

St Anthony SC rallied and scored through Kashiram Pomborkar to reduce the margin to 1-6 in the 60th minute. Again they scored in the 60th minute through Kanaya Govenkar to make it, 2-6. With two goals cushion, the confident St Anthony SC started attacking the rival citadel and were successful with the efforts of Dalesh Pednekar in the 63rd minute to make 3-6. Soon, St Anthony SC were awarded a penalty in the 67th minute, which was converted by Dalesh Pednekar to make 4-6.
