RAIA: United Sports Club of Seraulim and Navelim Sporting Club battled out a fairly entertaining encounter in heavy downpour conditions, with the game eventually being decided 4-3 via the tie-breaker in favour of United Sports Club of Seraulim to move into the next round of 50th All Goa Chandor Seamen Rolling Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Chandor Club at the Chandor Church Complex ground, on Monday.
After a barren first half, Navelim SC took the lead in the 34th minute when Ronaldo Pereira coolly converted a penalty kick. United SC of Seraulim restored parity in the 57th minute, also from the spot, through Oliver D’Souza.
With the teams locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time, the match rolled into the ensuing penalty shoot-out. United SC of Seraulim proved accurate from the spot, converting through Ashley Fernandes, Oliver D’Souza and Floscio Fernandes, while Navelim SC managed only two successful targets via Ronaldo Pereira and Mohammed Gundar.
