RAIA: United Sports Club of Seraulim booked semi-finals berth defeating Sporting Club of Davorlim 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out in the 50th Chandor Seamen football tournament organised by Chandor Club, at the Chandor Church Sports Complex ground, on Sunday.

Both teams took no time to settle down playing with a resolve to gain supremacy. The USC Seraulim boys tried to penetrate the SC Davorlim citadel to which the defenders held fast aborting their couple of good moves.

SC Davorlim were first to score in the 20th minute when Melchior Miranda capitalised on the defence lapse, chipped the ball into the rival net hoodwinking the USC Seraulim goalkeeper. SC Davorlim led 1-0 at lemon break.

Changing sides, the USC Seraulim boys seemed determined to level the score and gave their all into achieving the result.

Their efforts were rewarded when Fluscio Fernandes brilliantly headed the ball into the net off a beautiful corner-kick taken by Klinsman Vaz, levelling the score to 1-1.

SC Davorlim boys doubled their efforts but lady luck did not smile on them. At the end of regulation time, the score got locked to 1-1. In the penalty shoot-out that ensued, Fluscio Fernandes, Oliver D’Souza, Ashley Fernandes and Dickson Rogtao shot with clinical precision for USC Seraulim and William Niasso, Adam Gomes and Aaron Figueredo scored for SC Davorlim.

The Golden Jubilee memento was given to Sporting Club of Davorlim by Joseph Pereira, former panch of Chandor Cavorim.
